I'm taking ap US government next year and I'm wondering which book I should. I'm looking for a book that will not only help me with the exam, but also help me do well during the class. Hopefully, I could get a book that would explain thing in an simpler format than the AP textbook issued at school. Should I get Barrons or Princeton review? Which year/edition?

I’m biased towards Barrons for every subject (besides AP World History). I heard that they give some extra information and go too in-depth sometimes, but better more than less. I don’t like PR.

Oh, I’m the opposite. I don’t like the extra information in Barron’s. I much prefer PR. The wording isn’t as dry.

does the year/edition make a difference? Is it better to go with the latest?

I like Barron. And you do want the newest. Anything from 2011 would be good.

You definitely want the newest edition because the content and setup of the AP exams change over time.

Thanks! Any general tips for the class? I’ve its really hard at my school…

AP Govt in general isn’t really hard. But with AP classes, harder classes mean easier exams if you stay focus. So if people at your school say it’s really hard than you’re in luck. You don’t have a crappy teacher teaching you the stuffs (unless the class is hard because the teacher is just too strict or something).
