Baruch Finance vs UConn (Stamford) Finance

Trying to decide on which school I should go to. I know that UConn overall is higher ranked, but I would be going to the Stamford campus, so I’m not sure what type of oportunities there are at the branch campus. I’ve been accepted to both, and I’ll be using my Post 9/11 GI Bill, so cost is not an issue. I just want to know opinions about the programs and opportunities at the schools.

Hello all,

I’m a veteran, trying to decide between Uconn and Baruch, and extremely unsure. I’m transferring with around 60 credits. A big factor in my decision will be which school will be taking more credits (I will find this info out at orientation for both schools). However, obviously another huge part in this decision is which school is a better fit for me. Here’s the breakdown:

I’m a NY resident, so if I decide (or need) to take summer classes between, I won’t be using my GI Bill, so Baruch will be much more affordable when I don’t use my GI Bill. I’m torn between majoring in finance and management. I would not be attending the main campus if I decide to go to Uconn, which limits my choices of majors (I’d be attending the Stamford campus). I can’t really find any information about Uconn and Baruch comparisons when it comes to individual business majors. I’ve heard that for finance, you should go to Baruch, but for management and other business majors, you should go to Uconn. I’m just feeling a bit lost and I would like to see what other people thought, especially if you have experience at either school. Any advice/opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The previous thread wasn’t really going any further so I wanted to start a new thread with a more specific topic (finance vs. business in general) to see if there would be any new people who could give their input.

This stuck out to me because I’m from Stamford actually! Not too familiar with finance programs specifically but you should know it’s pretty damn simple to go from UConn Stamford to UConn Storrs if you’re willing to put the time/effort into it.

I wouldn’t have an issue getting into Storrs. I’m transferring with a 3.9 from my current school. I chose to go to Stamford because it’s my only option. I have to live close to the city because my fiancé is a nurse in the city. I couldn’t make the commute to Storrs from where I will be living. It wouldn’t be a question if it were between the main UConn campus and Baruch. I’m just not sure if the Stamford campus will offer as much as Baruch. I was told by one of the councelors at Stamford that the education and opportunities are exactly the same at Stamford and Storrs, but I just don’t know how true that could be. I’m just very confused about this decision, as I’m sure you can tell haha.

Hi! Where did you decide to go? Please share your experience. I have exactly the same dilemma right now, not sure whether I should transfer to UCONN Stamford or stay in Baruch. Thanks.
