Well i am currently entering my 2nd semester of freshman year at Baruch and first semester, I did not do so well. I received a 3.768 gpa, (b+ in calc, A- in poli-sci, but an A in art, english, and philosophy). I also have pretty good extracurriculars and worked at a government office. So do I have a shot at all? My second semester I will aim to get a 4.0 gpa but at least a 3.94. (that way I will get between a 3.85-3.88 for the year). Do you think it's strong enough for say Cornell, NYU, or an Ivy league? Ultimately I want to go for law.

most of the time colleges are only able to see the first semester grades so they are your mainstay and despite that your chances at these schools are not eliminated by any means…though your High school stats are going to instrumental…i think you should get into NYU atleast

What were your HS stats?

We don’t have a “pre-law” major at NYU, you’ll have to pick something to major in.

Don’t sweat it! A 3.77 is excellent. Try to get as close to 4.0 as you can, obviously, but don’t feel like you have to have perfect grades. Your high school stats will matter a great deal as well.

Cornell is an Ivy League…
