Basketball courts?

I love to basketball on my free time, I was wondering if there were any indoor bball courts? And do we have to pay for membership to get in/?

There are indoor basketball courts on north campus (Helen Newman Hall), west campus (Noyes) and central campus (I think Teagle?). There is no fee for playing on these courts. You have to have a Cornell ID to use them.

Do you have to wait a while to play?

Do they provide basketballs? Do these basketballs bounce? Can you just shoot around or is the demand for the courts such that you’d better be involved in a game?

(I am actually curious, not asking knowledgeable leading questions…)

They have balls you can rent out, they work fine.

Whether or not you can shoot around (at least at Helen Newman) depends on what time you go. At night you can pretty much always get involved in a pick-up game with little to no wait time.

Otherwise there are a ton of outdoor basketball courts around campus that are generally open for just shooting around.

oh awesome! someone asked my question :D

For the first month or two of school, you can play on the outdoor courts. But, then the weather gets bad and you have to use the indoor courts. I used to ball at Helen Hewman. It can get pretty crowded at times at night and you may have to rotate/wait if your team loses.
