Alright, seeing theres so many sports threads, I see one missing: Basketball.

Ive been playing for 5 years, Pf/Sf or even shooting guard if i feel like it lol, avg 12ppg this season, I play interscholastic basketball, and won Most Improved lol

im not good, but it's the best game known to man :)

like swimming and tennis and squash, etc, basketball can be played all year :)
except, unlike these sports, basketball promotes teamwork/sportsmanship

I have been ballin for about 7 yrs. I play either the 1 or 2. I am decent. I got a nasty J and pretty good moves to the hoop. I'm very small though 5' 7". I have not had a growth spurt cause I'm only 13. I scored prabably around 7 ppg or so.

At some of the prep schools, there is no chance of "making" varsity. It is a totally recruited team of very tall, exceptional players. In rare cases, you will see an underclassmen. Not all preps, but there are some super-competitive ones in New England.

Oh yes. I'm not saying there isn't an opportunity to play because there certainly is. I was just letting you know that it doesn't work the way it does in public hs (or even all prep schools). You don't "work your way up" from JV to V at some of the schools that field "elite" teams.

Played B-ball pretty much forever. About 6'0 play point guard. On one of the best AAU (club) teams in the nation. Favorite sport...don't like practice much.

I play girl's basketball. I am a guard/small forward and I'm about 5'5''. I'm curious what boarding schools have "killer programs" in basketball? Any of the HADES?

Off the top of my head, the best (male) basketball programs can be found at Brewster Academy, New Hampton, Winchendon School, Worcester Academy, NMH. These schools are all ranked in the top 10 nationally, I believe and most of the players end up in D1 programs, and some pretty impressive programs at that. NMH is developing a tradition of sending lots of their players to Ivies, which I suppose aren't as strong athletically, but I don't think I would complain about my child going to an Ivy. My husband begs to differ and says he would prefer the better sports school....oh well.

Blair has a strong basketball program for both boys and girls, although the boys team was a stronger tradition, and they are proud of having 3 players in the NBA. For the boys team this year, their only defeats have been against NMH and St. Patricks, which are both highly ranked teams. Blair Academy - Athletics. They won against New Hampton in a close game and defeated Worcester Acedemy twice. They have competed against 2 HADES (still hate the acronym using the Greek god of the underworld) -- Hotchkiss and Exeter -- schools plus Lawrenceville and won all. If you are interested in playing a high level of basketball, Blair should be considered.

Thank you keylyme and burb parent! I have already applied to Andover, St. Paul's, and Loomis Chaffee, but it's still nice to learn those infomation. :)
