What are the differences between Boston bates and Barnard? Which one is better, more prestigious, better opportunities? I am going to be an incoming freshman studying political science. Thanks!

@calmom Agree. However, I’d also add that the three colleges could not be more different. One is part of a major research university (Barnard), another is a small LAC (Bates) and Boston College is a suburban, Catholic college. Just be forewarned that while Barnard is a “liberal arts” college, it isn’t like a LAC. It is more like a division of a major university, albeit one that focuses on women and the liberal arts.
I think my main point is that I assume that all 3 have good options for political science – which is a common major, not something more esoteric where a choice of one highly regarded private college over another might make a difference. Poli sci is also a very broad area of study – is the person interested mostly in domestic or international policy, for example. Is the focus more theoretical, or practical? What would the student value more highly – an opportunity to explore political theory small classes and seminars? or extensive opportunities for internships during the school year?
However, OP posted in another thread that she has narrowed the choices to Bates & Boston – she has a low EFC & Bates has offered more money. So maybe I should add to my post above, “money, money, money”
