I know, Lehigh kind of sticks out. I'll give you a little background - I live in Palo Alto, but I've lived all over the U.S. I want to major in English or political science, and I've narrowed my list down to these three schools, and I have to decide... soooooooooooooon! And now I'm stuck. I was wondering if any parents had any kids who went to these schools/went themselves, and could offer me some insight?

You might get more responses if you posted on the Colby and Bates threads.

DS was at Bates as Visiting Student this fall due to Katrina. As a current Maine resident, I am familiar with Colby. He was also admitted to Lehigh and we have visited.

So, the question is what matters to you? Have you visited any/all of them? Each are relatively self-contained in that they are not part of any major city. So in that regard and climate-wise, they are kind of a wash. Lehigh is larger, but imo they all have a small school feel. All are appealing as to architecture/setting. Lehigh is the one with the Greek component, but it did not seem overly dominant to us (altho I have heard otherwise by the stereotypers).

DS' experience was that the Bates kids, faculty and administration were wonderfully welcoming. He had a great experience academically, with profs really available. I think you'd find that at the other two, as well.

So, tell us a little more about what your own criteria are.
