Lynkel what part of Maine do you live in. I spent 2 weeks in Maine so I basically lived there. Lol
@kjdsdksf Central Maine. But I am familiar with most areas of Maine. Where did you stay?
I was in bowdoin for 5 days for camp and bates for 2 for just a campus cost then I went to arcadia
Visit
@kjdsdksf Nice. I like Brunswick, were Bowdoin is located, better than Lewiston, where Bates is located. But I really liked the feel of Bates. I’ve stayed overnight at Bates as well, my host was very busy as it was finals week but it wasn’t bad.
Yup. Brunswick is pretty nice. So are you going to able ed?
I was going to apply Ed to bowdoin but the coach made me have at least a 2000 on sat and I didn’t make it. I got a 1920
But I applied Ed to bates and I got in which is also a great choice for me
@kjdsdksf That’s wonderful! But 80 points away… so close!
@kjdsdksf You applied test optional, right?
@lynkel I have gotten a response from my sister. She says that her contact in Bates describes Bates as more liberal than it is conservative. That Bates leans much more to the left of center. (I have no idea what that means!, but surely you do)
@snow30 Thank you! And yes I do, I am somewhere in the middle so I should be fine.
@lynkel would you mind enlightening me a little on what it means.
Liberal" tends to be less religious / more secular, more tolerant of different avenues of social behavior, more interested in government contributing to social programs, and less averse to taxes.
@kjdsdksf Thanks. But does it really matter whether a college is liberal or conservative? And which one is good or bad?
Did anyone who applied in RD receive a Bates portal request(Bates application account) yet?
@snow30 Neither is good nor bad, or depending on your beliefs. Conservatives tend to focus on upholding traditional beliefs, small government, and few laws used to restrict the citizen. It is a matter of your personal beliefs. @ZainSD I have not recieved anything yet, but I also am in the process of transferring my RD to ED2.
Bates is the only one on my list who hasn’t sent a request.
@lynkel thanks. From your explanation, my high school was on the conservative side(most high schools in Nigeria to) and it was really annoying to everyone because we were restricted from a lot of things. I think i will be better off on the “left” side.
@ZainSD u can call the admissions office for a quick response. Sending an email can take days to get a reply. Bates wae also the last school to sebd me an ID, which i had to call to get it.
