Baylor 2020 Decision Thread

@InfiniteZephyr They sent a retraction email a few hours later so I think it was a mistake. Oops.

That’s what I thought! I was so confused when they would ask about football tickets before announcing that you made it on the portal :stuck_out_tongue:

Call the admissions office to see if you can get more clarity on your D’s situation.

@InfiniteZephyr and @CollegeMama987 so sorry for the mixup. Usually when they send those it is to admitted students. Hopefully, it does mean you are admitted. I agree with @Baylorpoly that you should call for clarification. Good luck to all.

It looks like we will be there in April!! Daughter was admitted to BIC in the honors program.

My child and I too received these but we still have not heard anything. Any new developments from anyone else? ;

Just waiting for the letter from the financial aid office to see how this is all going to work and what the net price ends up being. Doesn’t anyone else get thrown off between what the expected family contribution is and the net price? It is almost assumed I guess that between the student and the parents loans will be taken out to fill in the “gap” or what I refer to is “the canyon.”

I don’t plan on attending Baylor anymore (but congrats to everyone who is!) because I still haven’t heard back from them. I’m an English major, 1890 SAT, & a 4.0 (not in top 10%, competitive hs). I don’t see why I wouldn’t get in, so I’m kind of frustrated with their admissions process, considering I applied in October with the free application. Should I just retract my application and not face a rejection letter?

Have you called them @universeofbooks? I would call to see if there was a problem.

@Sophmore1 I got deferred to the April decision date, but I think I’ll just wait it out to hear the decision. A friend of mine had the same problem.

Does anybody know the specific date for the Baylor admission decisions date?

Need to decide by May 1st if you have been accepted I believe. Are you talking about the date you need to decide to accept admission or the last day they can admit?

It is supposed to be a safe school but I suprisingly to find out that I got waitlisted. Really confused though, ACT 36, SAT 2330, 12 out of 531 ranking and tons of ECs. I learned something new today that Baylor is really more competitive than I think. It should be a reach school not a safe school for me. HaHa…

@Baylorpoly I’m referring to the last day they can admit
I read from their website “before April 10” but some of my friends have already been accepted, so I’m not sure where that puts me (hopefully not rejected…)

@Bossof9000 Wow…those are crazy stats…their average SATs are MUCH lower than that though? I wonder why you got waitlisted???

My son’s stats are very similar and he was wait listed as well. I don’t know if it’s being Catholic, from the Northeast, or what, but he applied to 4 in TX (3 of which should have been very safe schools). He got into UT Austin, waitlisted at Baylor and 1 other and rejected from TCU. It’s just very strange

@2016sryankee I heard that Baylor tries to protect their yield, so they reject “overqualified” (in their own eyes I guess) people in lieu for applicants that are more likely to come to their school?

@InfiniteZephyr , that makes sense. I can’t say with any confidence whether he would or would not have attended Baylor. My brother lives in TX and my son really wanted a school close to him. Baylor was a safe school, but he was really interested in them. TCU was just really safe but they obviously didn’t like him. SMU has the location and the Business school and he was accepted there.UT Austin is awesome, but he literally got no $$$ and OOS isn’t cheap It is just a guessing game. I wish with the rejection would come with a reason when they are so above and beyond. He got ino reach schools w/o a problem, but his heart is in TX

just got accepted by Vanderbilt and I think the “Yield” theory might be the right explanation for this. To be honest that I was really thinking about going to Baylor because of my NMF status will save me tons of money there. .luckily that Vanderbilt accepts me with even better aid package

hey does anyone know whether baylor sends out admit packs

I still haven’t received a decision from Baylor yet
They said they’d notify by April 10th but I feel like most people already got their decision.
