Baylor Class of 2025 EA/RD

Same here like most others 3.7 UW, 4.4 W GPA, 1540 SAT, 11 APs till Junior (14 overall). Got BS Neuroscience + 80k scholarship. Seems consistent with others. Trying for BS/ MD with Baylor & Baylor.

Just realized I never posted my stats. 4.33 W, 3.75 UW, 1540 SAT, 9 APs. Applied biochem and got $92k which confuses me because Iā€™ve seen quite a few people throughout college confidential with higher stats but lower scholarship money.

Only thing I can think of is that they still might be placing a large weight on National Merit.

In case if it helps anyone GPA- 4.65 W, ACT-34 one attempt, 17 AP/IB course, decent ECs - admitted BS Neuroscience with 92K scholarship but got waitlisted for Honors :frowning:

@BSMEDHOPE waitlisted for honors? Damn, must be pretty competitive. Iā€™m not applying for honors though

I applied 10/31 and still havenā€™t heard back. I hope a decision comes soon.

I applied EA on 10/30, still didnā€™t get any decision yet, however, I got the mail for Financial apply. is it any sign? also, I already applied fafsa and css profile. but why am i getting this mail? shall i contact to the school?

@mochiko It wonā€™t affect your decision, this is under the financial aid tab on GoBaylor:

ā€œIf you are applying Early Action or Regular Decision, the FAFSA and CSS Profile are separate from the Admissions process and thus are NOT required for you to be reviewed for admission. If you miss the November 2 priority date, you will be considered for aid based on the availability of funds.ā€

You should probably contact Baylor and clarify if they received your fafsa and css

@norcalfre @DNapier @mochiko @Chrane03 hey guys. I donā€™t wanna bring too much religion into this because I know its a controversial topic, but we are talking about Baylor here. Iā€™m definitely strongly considering attending the school, but if anyone has any insight they can provide, how Christian is Baylor. Iā€™ve grown up going to church every week and helping out here and there. I would say I believe all the things a general Christian believes, but Iā€™m not fully invested in it. I have talked to a few Baylor 2025 students who are committed and most of them are 100% dedicated to their religion and itā€™s basically their life. I definitely am Christian, but it does not consume my life. To really enjoy your time at Baylor, should Christianity be a much larger focus in my life, or would I be fine with my general views?

We are not Christians. That said, my daughter is open to learning about other religions. A few people we have talked to have brought up this religion aspect of Baylor, but we dont think the ā€˜religious affiliationā€™ will be a ā€˜make or breakā€™ factor in deciding on attending Baylor.

D is interested in pre-med track and our main focus will be on how supportive Baylor will be for Pre-med students.

@ncelotto

Weā€™re both from CT, so I probably know about as much as you do about Baylor.

Iā€™ll just list some things that Iā€™ve heard that are different than here:

  • People at Baylor really hate swearing, you will get weird looks if you swear.
  • I don't know if this is still relevant, but apparently there's a huge ring-by-spring culture where a lot of students try and get engaged by the end of senior year.
  • Baylor has also received some pushback on their human sexuality statement and other similar things
  • Baylor lists the percentage of Baptist students as 27% and Southern Baptists in general are very devoted to their religion (Duggars from 19 kids and counting are Southern Baptist for example).

I think youā€™ll probably find that the majority of students are Christian and attend Church each week, and there will probably be an equally large population of non-religious and super religious people there, and you will probably end up finding out where you fit in.

My friend and I are both applying to Baylor, Iā€™m Catholic and heā€™s Greek Orthodox. I take my religion fairly seriously and heā€™s pretty much a Christian in church only.
I wouldnā€™t say that I singled out Baylor because itā€™s a Christian school, itā€™s mostly the fact that Iā€™ve heard a lot of great things about their pre-med program, merit scholarships are great, and that Iā€™m trying to avoid ā€œparty schoolsā€ and Baylor does not seem like a party school at all.

I was accepted during Baylor premier!! I am so excited, Baylor is my #1 choice:) I will be majoring in biology, minoring in medical humanities, and I am going on the pre-med track.

When I applied, I was ranked 57/748 (top 7%). That will increase after the first semester rank update, so I am praying I receive more aid. Baylor is just so expensive!!

Unweighted GPA: 3.9286
Weighted GPA: 4.9762

So far I have received the Provostā€™s Merit scholarship ($80,000) over 4 years.

Some info about me:
I am a violinist in varsity orchestra, I volunteer every Friday at Memorial Hermann Hospital, shadowed at a vet clinic for two summers, I will have taken 14 AP classes and 1 DC class after senior year, I received the AP Scholar with distinction award from College Board, I am in several clubs and honor societies, received honor roll and academic letters each year of high school, and participated in a competitive NASA program over the summer.

Best of luck to everyone who is still awaiting their decision!

@Chrane03 that makes sense. Iā€™m just also looking at many schools in Boston (like BC, BU, Northeastern), and Iā€™m just trying to figure out, if I get into one or more of those schools, should I choose Baylor or one of them (disregarding cost). Iā€™ve also applied to Notre Dame REA but thats a huge reach soā€¦ itā€™s tough

@ncoletto Is cost not a factor at all for you? The entire pre-med / medical school journey is very costly and may be good to keep costs low in undergrad. BU and Northeastern are great colleges, but iā€™ve heard that BU is known for grade deflation which could be an important factor when deciding to go into pre-med.

How about your other state schools? Are you only looking into private institutions?

@norcalfre Iā€™m not going for premed, @Chrane03 is. Iā€™m going for Statistics. And I mean Iā€™d love to get some scholarship, but technically my parents would be able to completely pay for my full cost at any college, so Iā€™m very grateful that cost is not a make-or-break factor. I 100% do not at all want to stay in-state. Iā€™m applying to some state schools in the midwest like Michigan State (accepted), Ohio State and UMich.

@norcalfre
I am on a pre-med track and cost is one of the biggest factors for me. I have a $300k college fund and Iā€™m planning to use that only on medical school. Since Iā€™m a national merit semifinalist and most likely a finalist, I have a full COA scholarship to University of Florida, and I will only go to Baylor if I get the full-tuition or full-COA scholarship. I applied to my state school-UConn if somehow I donā€™t get into UF or Iā€™m not a national merit finalist. Iā€™d much rather go to Baylor than UF, but if I donā€™t get at least a full-tuition scholarship then it doesnā€™t make sense considering the other options I have. I understand that itā€™s a huge reach to get any of these scholarships, so Iā€™m expecting to end up at UF.

Yooooo just got accepted to Baylor!!! Iā€™m so stoked this is my first acceptance from a private school. Iā€™m still waiting to hear about the Honors College.
I applied EA (duh) w 28 ACT composite.
This just made my night!

anyone got the email first from the counselor before getting a decision?

I meant to post this earlier. My D21 heard and sheā€™s accepted with $92k over 4 years. Sheā€™s super excited!

Ah Iā€™m getting so anxious since I see everyone hearing back but I havenā€™t heard anything! Hoping for good news soon!

@mochiko Did you get an email from your Baylor counselor about your application being complete? Is this the email you are referring to? I got an email today saying my application was complete even though my goBaylor portal has said ā€œcompleteā€ for weeks.
