Baylor Honors program

I applied to the Honors program 3 days ago. Does anyone know how long it typically takes to back from them? I’m just a little nervous because I heard back from the Baylor admissions pretty quickly. Also, is it possible to apply to the HRC before I hear back from the Honors program?

My daughter applied to all three of the Honors College programs (Great Texts doesn’t require a separate application). She submitted her application at the end of October. It took about a week to hear back from the Honors Program, ten days to hear back from the BIC program, and three weeks to hear back from the University Scholars program. Part of the delay in the University Scholars program was getting her extra recommendation letter submitted from a teacher. My guess is that it was only about ten days to hear back from them once they got the letter. I would anticipate a slightly longer lead time now given the Thanksgiving holiday.

The HRC application won’t be available until December 1. The website says you are allowed to apply prior to being admitted to one of the Honors College programs, but they won’t evaluate your application until you are admitted. My daughter is also planning to apply to the HRC once the application is available on the 1st.

Thank you so much! Will the recommendation letters submitted for the Baylor application be sufficient? Or did your daughter have to resubmit the rec letters for the honors program?

The only program that requests a letter of recommendation is the University Scholars program. If you are applying only to the Honors Program there is no letter of recommendation requested. If you are applying to the University Scholars program, the website says that you can use your original letter(s) of recommendation if you choose. I’m not sure if you would need to resubmit the letter or if the University Scholars committee can obtain it from the admissions department. Note that they also recommend submitting a resume for the University Scholars program. All materials are submitted via email to University_Scholars@baylor.edu. I would recommend that you email that address and ask if you need to resubmit a letter of recommendation or not. My daughter chose to ask a teacher to write one specifically related to the University Scholars program.

Thank you so much for all your help!
