BC, Brandeis or GWU?

scottj - yes the reference was to you, although at the time i forgot your username. i hope you didn't mind the reference; it was spur of the moment cognition. i would also like to thank you for your post. i wasn't attempting to downplay brandeis whatsoever. rather, i took exception to B77's classification of Boston College's prestige stemming from only sports culture.

hi well I guess it depends on what you want to study. My daughter had no interest at all in Brandeis but was very set on going to GWU, she didn't get in but did get into BC, which she is now leaning towards. BC was her close second. She is interested in business and international affairs, the Elliott school at GW is outstanding and one of the best in the country. In this regard, BC doesn't compare..so again its a matter of what you are leaning towards studying. BC is an excellent school, great location, and terrific faculty in addition to having great sports teams and "more school spirit"/campus feeling than the other two. I say visit all three again and see what kind of feeling you walk away with, talk to other students/faculty. Good luck in your decision making!

Brandeis is a good school if you’re not exactly sure yet what you want to do. And the prof who teaches Intro to Econ is awesome ;-)

BC is by far the best/highest ranked/most well-known of the three.

Brandeis is an obscure and relatively unheard of institution to a vast majority of lay and professionals.

“Brandeis is an obscure and relatively unheard of institution to a vast majority of lay and professionals.”

You’re quite wrong in your assertion, in my opinion. Most professionals are fully aware of Brandeis and know it to be an excellent school with superior academics and graduate school placement rates that compare with any highly selective institution in the country. And despite the lack of a Division 1 sports program and TV exposure (like BC), I believe that many lay persons have also heard of the school even if only for its perceived reputation as a popular destination for Jewish students.

By the way, why are you resurrecting a thread that is over three years old with such a skewed put-down?

Maybe he is trying to reverse time.
