I’m a junior in HS and I was wondering if anyone knows anything about a Math/Poli Sci double major at BC, if people have done it, if it makes sense, etc. Thanks.
Hi I’m a current senior, and I just attended early action accepted students day at BC. I’m considering double majoring in econ and political science, so I know a little bit about what you’re interested. Many current students have told me to declare my major as poli sci because there are many classes in the department that are major restricted. My understanding is that if you were declared a math major at first you wouldn’t be able to take some desirable poli sci classes.
As a junior, your main concern should be getting into a school like BC and figuring out if it’s the right environment for you. Once accepted, I’ve noticed that they have abundant support and advice for figuring out majors etc, even though I haven’t even committed yet. Its pretty great
That’s not really true. Perhaps you misunderstood the context.
Departments may give registration priority to upper division students (so they can graduate on time), but such classes are not “restricted” as say, many classes in Education School are restricted to Educ majors.
Generally, the Lower Division courses in A&S are open to everyone.
