I’m kind of freaking out because I don’t know which one to go to. I mean I know that Notre Dame is academically superior, has the awesome school spirit and community feel, but BC has the major I want and has Boston like ten minutes away.

So any information in either direction would be greatly appreciated/helpful.

Thanks muchos.

What major do you want? Personally, I would go with Notre Dame, but I think all in all, the two are pretty similar. They both have the awesome school spirit thing going (BC's football and basketball teams' popularity is huge) and they both have GORGEOUS campuses (that's always been a huge factor for me). If you like hanging around a fun city, keep in mind that Notre Dame is in the middle of nowhere. I assume, since you live ten minutes away, that you've visited BC. Have you visited ND? Is being able to see your family often really important to you?

I've visited both and ended up not applying to ND. While I'm religious and conservative, the Catholic feel at ND was MUCH stronger that the Catholic Jesuit thing BC has going on. For example, the middle of campus was full of crosses representing deaths from abortions(i'm guessing a temporary thing/protest but im not sure). I also thought it seemed stuffy from the overbearing conservative tinge. But it could have been a combination of the places our tour guide took us (i.e. the chapel, statues and prayer areas)/our guide/the abortion protest/ and the darkness of the lunch hall we ate in. just my 2 cents.

go with your gut. i know it sounds corny, or maybe you've heard it before, but somewhere inside you've just got to be slightly leaning one way or the other...so just pick it and go with it. the schools are so comparable that one isn't better than the other in any way. i personally had the EXACT same dilemma and then last week just went with my gut feeling and chose BC. i was really nervous and scared at first but now im really happy with my decision and excited to be an eagle next fall!

"the schools are so comparable that one isn't better than the other in any way."

I have to disagree with you slightly there. I'm from Massachusetts and also got into both schools. While BC is a great school and well-respected in the Northeast, Notre Dame seems to offer a slightly better education and an ND degree is more likely to impress an outsider. If you took a poll of people worldwide, I think the ND degree would carry considerably more weight.

That being said, they are both great schools and I agree that you should go with your gut. You won't make a terrible mistake either way.
