Hi, I was accepted to both schools and I am currently undecided between these two. CSOM in BC has a very good ranking but I heard that Northeastern’s business school has a very good program and the CO-OPs help a lot. Can anybody help me with decision by giving me advice or anything?
My son was also accepted to both schools with NEU offering a decent merit package. He decided on BC, and it was an easy decision for him. With CSOM recently ranked #3, the beautiful spacious campus, and an admitted students day that allowed him see how he would fit in, it was not hard to decide. He felt the co-op and the multiple 6 month sessions away from school would break the continuity of his educational and social experience. In addition he was looking for a D1 major sports school as a fan who enjoys school spirit. He also liked the Jesuit philosophy (not Catholic), and a liberal arts curriculum. This is a personal choice fir each individual, and I’m sure a NEU student would have a different take. In the end I believe it’s where you see yourself fitting in.
I would strongly second the above post, coming from the opposite side as a Northeastern student. The biggest difference here is fit. BC and NEU have very different cultures. When it comes to co-op, what one sees as breaking up educational and social experiences is seen as integration of classroom and career life to another, and neither view is wrong. Obviously, the religious factor is a plus for some and a negative for others.
Any idea what you want to do with your degree? Wall Street? Entrepreneurship? Finance? Anything interdisciplinary?
For me, I would have never seen myself being happy at BC. I wanted close access to the city, a practical program that felt applicable and not solely in an academic bubble, little greek life, wasn’t big on the whole sports thing, and wanted a place where I could really design my own curriculum. As said, it’s completely about what you’re looking for.
