I'm in the process of applying to colleges and Northeastern and BC are my top schools. I saw BC first and I absolutely fell in love with the school, and I just recently toured Northeastern and the opportunities are endless. I am applying as an International Relations/Affairs major, and I need help figuring out which school is right for me - I'm completely torn. I have a 3.8 cumulative GPA and a 2000 on the SAT. Thank you!

Ok, you need help figuring out which school is right for you.

What do you want in a school?

The two big things that I want in a school are a sense of community where there is a lot to get involved in and professors who care about their students. I also want to be able to study abroad and possibly get a job or an internship while abroad.

Both schools have a strong sense of community. Both schools are fairly expensive, so make sure you can afford to attend each without going into too much student loan debt.

BC has more of a liberal arts feel, with a strong focus on core humanities (English, history, etc.). BC emphasizes giving back to the community. BC has a traditional gothic campus located just outside of Boston in the Boston suburbs. BC has a strong alumni network due to the amateur sports programs which keep alums interested. The student body is largely made up of students from upper-middle to upper class families in the northeast.

Northeastern has a more professional orientation, with a focus on career placement and how to succeed in the marketplace (management, marketing, finance, architecture, international business, etc.). The co-op program provides students with hands-on experience and a fleshed out resume at graduation. Located in the city, Northeastern students are typically savvy urbanites that enjoy living in a large metropolitan city. The student body is largely made up of students from upper-middle class families from the northeast.
