When you say these specific numbers of "what Harvard wants", what is that based upon? Is there a list of statistics somewhere or are you just guessing?

he's just guessing.

OP:
i'm going to ignore the "chance me" part of this thread and address a more important issue which is why do you even want to go to Harvard? don't take this the wrong way, but your application and your background doesn't really say "I'm a kid who's ready to go to Harvard." it's pretty clear that you are still recovering from your eating disorder so what makes you think it's a wise decision for you to go off to one of the most academically rigorous institutions in the world? like someone else said, the stress of the environment will more than likely cause you to relapse or to pick up another bad habit/addiction like drinking or drugs.

also, please don't say that your reason for wanting to go to Harvard is just because it's a "good school" or that you will think that it will help you succeed in life. where you go to school will hardly even matter in the scheme of things.

Why would ANYONE want to go to Harvard?
In all due seriousness.

NewJack88, So are you saying, people who has suffered from an eating disorder should never even dream of going to schools like Harvard? because they are so vulnerable and therefore, will relapse? It is true that people who had eating disorders are very easy to relapse during hard times, but relapse prevention is part of a recovery and it is not something you can avoid by not going to schools like Harvard. It is a problem that anyone who had an eating disorder has to face wherever they are. and I don't know what makes you think I am not recovered, but yes, I do consider myself as recovered.

I was just wondering, what kind of application and "background" is ready for harvard? Of course, my application isn't all that good and chances are low, but I did not think there was any set standard.

do you care to elaborate?

i was going to reply but i don't think it's right for me to try to pick a part your personality. even though i'm interested in these sorts of subjects (i spend a lot of time reading up on psychology, etc.), i'm not a doctor so what i think really doesn't matter. i'd imagine that since you have depression and an eating disorder you are hopefully seeing a therapist. talk to him or her about whether or not it'd be a wise idea for you to go such an intense school. your chance thread is really too complex for any one on CC to give you worthwhile advice. we need to know how far you've progressed with coping with your ADD, depression, and eating disorder.

because it takes years and years for people to completely "recover" from eating disorders; it's always a life long issue.
