Be paid $100,000 NOT to attend college

Fellowship Pays Students $100,000 To Not Attend College - TIME NewsFeed

It’s always good to have someone saying ‘f*** the system,’ and making trouble. This is a good way to do it I think, and might encourage something new (maybe like how Ph.D programs require a thesis done with a mentor/adviser, a series of programs could arise like this one where a big-time entrepreneur guides a budding young mind with some knowledge/resources/connections/etc. Just an idea.).

These students are already in a top college and 24 will get to work in Silicon Valley instead of continuing their college education for 2 years. The funder, with advanced degrees, is hoping they will perform like some other high profile college dropouts.

For a student facing loans this may seem like a way to pay for future semesters at an expensive college. This would appeal to those ending up in business, not for everyone. Some fields require college academics- not everything is about financial sucess. People like myself would never be picked because we don’t want to do the work required- we are better off continuing with undergrad and nonbusiness grad/professional school.
