Beacon College

As a high school senior, I checked out a lot of different colleges – but Beacon College Beacon College for ADHD Students, LD Students and gifted LD - Colleges for Learning Disabilities was the only college I saw that was exclusively for people with learning disabilities and ADHD. The classes are really small and all the students get a lot of personal attention. They offer degrees in Liberal Studies, Human Services, and Computer Information Systems. It looks like a really fun place to go to school. You can email info@beaconcollege.edu for an information packet

Did you look at Landmark College or Mitchell? I think both are solely for LD. Look on this site for more info. Good luck.

Uh–I think CollegeAdvocate is employed by Beacon College to advertise its presence on CC–given that poster is 25 and only 2 posts are ads for Beacon College. CollegeAdvocate–your post makes me LESS likely to consider Beacon. What would be more honest and helpful would be to introduce yourself in a thread as a college rep and offer to answer questions.

Thank you for pointing out the age discrepancy, Sudsie! I had been scratching my head trying to figure out how College Advocate had concluded Beacon was the only college exclusively for ADHD and LD students. Out of curiousity I looked at their website. They say they have 130 students, and the course catalog (which was from last year… nothing has been posted for the current academic year!) listed only about a dozen fulltime faculty. Yikes.

I’m actually not ‘employed’ by Beacon, I’m a work study student that, yes, is trying to spread the word about Beacon College. Am I 25? I am. I came out of high school with a bad taste in my mouth for education and worked for several years before finding Beacon and deciding to attend. I was scared at first but I’ve been enjoying it so far.

As far as the course catalog and students. With the new students (including myself) that came to Beacon this semester I think the number is 150. I’m not sure about the catalog and faculty list since I don’t update the site, but I can tell you that most of my classes have about 8-12 students, so it’s nothing big and you don’t get list in the crowd.
