Never! Give up mint julep cups. Never! I'd rather die first! LOL Have several of my own but seeing how I had to polish silver, they're pewter. I did keep one real silver bowl that is engraved with Jamz' stuff. Jefferson cups? Do tell. I don't know what they are. Please advise. And you are too awesome, Weski, thinking of the boys & girls club for trophies. Recycle!! Think of some little boy or girl having that trophy & being so proud to have it. Melts me down to nuthin'. That is just beyond sweet! My kid would have loved that idea. He loves little kids.

Anyone from Virginia will tell you that Jefferson Cups are for "festive punch" but they are good for holding paper clips, too. Usually pewter, classy ones are silver (but need to be polished). They stack, are cute & relatively small. I prefer the mint julep cups - holds more, gets frosty and can be tres chic toothbrush cups or a little icy bourbon with mint! Now they are oten used to hold flowers or as bridesmaid gifts.
Well, at this house there are many young boys or girls waiting for my room (I have nine siblings at home, one at college). The deal is this: A week before I leave for Beast/Plebe Summer, I have to pack all my stuff up and ship it out. The room must be empty.

Clothes - There's not much, mostly hand-me-downs from my brothers, but my sisters want most of my clothes.

Books - I'll have to sort through these and decide which ones to hand down and which ones to donate.

Desk - I'm going to have a bonfire to burn all my writings and sketchbooks (hahahaha!--I'm a bit of a pyromaniac). All other "junk" is going into the bin.

Jewelry - I don't wear jewelry at all...I don't even know why it's still in my room. My mother and sisters would like them...unless I decide to pawn them off. Hah!

Trophies/Awards - Currently, I hate these things. They are "dust collectors," so they're all in Aasic shoe boxes in my closet.

Stuff on my shelves/desks/dresser - Trash or donate. Also, a lot of my pottery is there, so it's trash too.

Bed - None to really put away.

CD player and CDs - Eh...sell it?

Sheet Music - Give some of it to my friends.

I'm making a potato launcher, so maybe it'd be fun to shoot some of this stuff. I'd like to see that trophy angel really fly. My sisters are crazy, so they will buy some of my stuff from me. They'll probably buy a lot of it. They will buy it. They've been asking for my stuff for years now. Haha! I'm seeing profit in my future.

OR MAYBE it'd be fun to melt some of this old junk down into one big human sculpture---a sculpture of a man made of trophies! Wonderful! I'll donate it to the school (haha).

dictatoranna - like the julep cups, never ever ever let go of your pottery. Clay is the heart & soul. To take the earth & make something of it, is a talent. Yep. I'm a potter. Be careful of your potato launcher. Will put a car window out. Find this from experience as well. Make all the bling ya can off your siblings! You'll need bus fares into Annapolis on libs.

Jefferson cups! Who knew! I must have a set!!

wow, in the 2 days I've been away you guys have all been cleaning and dusting and rearranging and repainting and rebuilding and making over the whole darn place!!!

JM- we "New Yorkers" don't lose our "r's"...a "car" is not a "ca," it's a "caRRRRRRRRR".....your son must be rooming with those Boston folk- their alphabet is only 25 letters long, where a "car" is truely a "CAAAAA"! ;)

Ohhhhh. So thats where he's R's went. The Boston kids stole them! And I noticed he says "LonG Island". Really concentrates on that G. NY or Boston? Funny what 7 months up there has done to his vocab. I can hardly understand him. He still calls me "Mama" & drinks sweet tea though. Mama, get in the ca. I'll have to ponder on that some. Thanks for the clarification.

Now that is definately a LonGGGGG Island thing!! (pronounced "long-ga") ;)

Tell him to forget about the "sweet tea"..... if he really wants the ULTIMATE Long Island experience, tell him to gather up a few friends come a hot day in the spring, follow Rte 25A (Northern Blvd) about 15 miles to the east, stop at the (only) deli in Cold Spring Harbor (home of the world famous CSH DNA center) and ask for a "half and half"......it is just wonderful and nothing beats it anywhere!!! CSH is famous for them!!!

(by the way, its a great "little town" to visit if you are ever up this way and want somewhere to go....one of the oldest whaling villages on LI and quaint as can be!)
