Well, hey-lo there, people - how have your summers been? Just dropped by (as always ;)) to ask a few questions regarding my schedule, which I hope someone can answer. This is kinda urgent, considering my Phase II appointment is tomorrow, and I'm kinda freaked out.

I am a freshman who is matriculating this year for the Class of 2010. Posters around here will know me as a finicky-minded chap (hence the finicky post :p) who is under the Engineering-Undeclared course. I would like to know if the following schedule would be OK for an incoming international freshman (I am a Filipino residing in Oman). Beside, I've attached the names of the professors, so it would help if any current Cal student could please advise me on the professor's notoriety (er, or anything otherwise).

Well, this was my initial schedule, and I found it perfect - with the exception of Thursday, with an early Chem 4A class  all others involved enough travel time between classes, and the classes were well spaced out. So I signed up for Math 1A and Chem 4A and Bioeng 24 during Phase I.

And now, I've fallen into the same trap as royrules22. Cursed with a late Phase II appointment time (Phase I and Phase II give people equal chances at getting the classes they want?! Ha, fat chance). People have sucked up the seats that I want - more specifically, the laboratory and discussion sections that I wanted in CS 61A (the TuTh 5:00 - 6:30 one), and now with the ones currently available, I have this muddled up schedule to show for all my work :(:

As you can now see, Wednesdays are muddled up with the most classes, Tuesdays are the exact opposite, and I'll lose most of my calories on Wednesday! :(:(:(

My questions are these: is the above a good schedule at all? If I were to put myself on the waitlist for the CS 61A class (the TuTh 5:00-6:30 section) to maintain my former schedule, how soon can I get off it? Or how do I get off it? I looked through the forum, and noted that people were advised to sit in the first few classes even though they weren't technically 'enrolled' in the class - how is this possible? (Where do you sit, and even moreso in case of the laboratory and discussion sections?) And I was thinking of moving to an AC class (I have choices of Anthropology, Linguistics, Sociology and American Studies) if ever I don't get off the CS 61A waitlist. Is this possible even though I haven't added their first few classes? Or should I just sign up for all of the above, including the AC class (pushing the courseload to 21 units) to keep all options open? Or should I just drop CS 61A till next semester and get a good night's sleep tonight?

Any advice - relevant or otherwise - would be appreciated. I have loads of choccies. :p
