So, I've been a hip hop dancer for a long time, and recently I've really wanted to do contemporary or jazz.
my question is: can you take any BEGINNER dance classes for these styles in college and work your way up to advanced? Beginner also meaning no audition. I'm not looking to major in dance or minor, but i'd like to dance every year that I'm in college and continue dancing afterwards. Its just a hoby and a way to stay in shape.
Most likely I am going to the University of Arizona (because i've basically no choice, which i know is a competitive dance school).
Although UofA most likely doesn't have anything of the sort, are there any colleges that do have beginner dance where you can seriously dance?
Thanks!

Here is a link that will show you the dance classes that UA plans to offer in the fall. You can see that there are not a whole lot of beginning dance classes (eliminating the “history of dance” ones) open to non-majors and/or that don’t require an audition to get into.

And unfortunately, since freshmen and sophomores have the lowest priority in registering for classes, you may not be able to get into the few available classes until you are a junior or senior. Sorry.
