Does being a male have an advantage when applying to Brown?
Considering that there are 4000 more female applicants and approx same number of admits?

For the class of 2012, there was an acceptance rate of 17 percent for males compared to 12 percent for females.

So yes, there is an advantage to being male. Although, the vast majority still get denied.

I’d love to know why high school boys are not attracted to Brown (relatively speaking).

I’d also like to see if there are differences in the stats of accepted males versus females. I’m not sure the difference in stats are super different, so while you’re more likely to “roll the right number”, I’m pretty sure it’s not “easier”.

Probably. Outside of Geology and Applied Math, most of Brown’s best departments come in the Humanities, which, for whatever reason, tend to attract more females than males.

But don’t think just because you’re a male you have an exponentially better chance of getting in.
