Being Asian(non-International student) at Colby

Hi, I grew up in America as an Asian-American. How well do Colby students accept Asian-Americans? Do Asian-Americans stick together or are also able to make friends with Americans and those of other backgrounds? Bluntly stated, is Colby racist?

Hi @RandallBrown. As an Asian-American as well, growing up in the suburbs of LA, I thought the same thing coming in. Colby’s not a big school with a big Asian American population. However, we do have a number of Asian Americans on campus. That being said, we try to have group events but that doesn’t mean you aren’t able to make friendships with non-Asian students. Coming in, I thought my closest friends would be the Asian American students and students in my majors. Turns out that didn’t come close to who my closest friends are after two years here.

Being blunt, I wouldn’t say Colby is racist at all.

Are asians(guys and girls included) successful in hooking up/being in a long-term relationship with non-asians(white, african-american, latino, etc) at Colby College? Do asians (guys and girls included) get barred from attending parties?
