Being bilingual/multilingual?

English is my native language, I’m advanced in Spanish, though quite quite fluent, and I can carry a simple conversation in German.

first 10 yrs of my life I spoke chinese
then from age 10-present i picked up english and im pretty good at it.

If i talk to international students, they would just think im an international cuz my chinese is so darn good  and my white pals think i was born in the US, cuz my english doesn’t really chinese accent in it. So i’m pretty glad that im good in both languages :)

I speak four languages: English (completely fluent), Spanish (completely fluent), French (understand it, but don’t speak it well), and Haitian Creole (only slightly understand it…). :)

buuuuuuuuumppp ^^ !!

This thread is impressive. I consider myself almost bilingual: Fluent in English and pretty good in Spanish.

English, Russian, Spanish, Kazakh and Uzbek :)

Ooh what an interesting thread  Unfortunately I’m only fluent in English. I know a decent amount of Spanish but my high school’s Spanish teachers are not up to par at all. I took a Mandarin class online for a little bit but I can only say a few words and phrases. I really want to learn Arabic and French. I think it’s sad that the latter isn’t even offered at my school… I’m also a hopeful Linguistics major. haha

webass, are you from Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan??

If from Kazakhstan, were you offended by Borat?

English and the ability to understand Bengali and Hindi (my parents are immigrants from West Bengal, India). Plus I know some French from class. So pretty multilingual?

I speak hebrew (fluent) and english (fluent ) I can talk some Japanese.I want to master Japanese and maybe Spanish.

My native language is Bulgarian, I’m fluent in English and I’m comfortable with Spanish and Russian, too. I’m planning to pick up French in college and study Italian on my own.

Other than English, which is my native language, I can speak fluent Hawaiian (my late mom was from Hawaii), Spanish (my paternal grandfather is Spanish) and Hebrew (I’m not Jewish, but I’ve always loved the Hebrew language, so I studied this in my own time). I took French at school, but wouldn’t say I’m fluent, rather somewhere between intermediate and advanced. I can also get by in German and Italian (studied basics in grades 6-8).

As I dream of being a journalist one day, I’m keen to learn as many languages as possible, as I think it will be beneficial.

Uzbekistan.
Hahaha, I use Borat’s quotes all the time here in America.

I currently speak three languages, but I am going to learn another three over the next 16 months.

I speak: English, Bangla, and Spanish

I am going to add: German, Portuguese, and French
