After having looked a lot into Vandy/Nashville, it seems to me like almost all the places where students might hang out in Nashville are 21+... I'll only be 17 when I start college, so would I feel left out because I can't go to these places? Or are my impressions just wrong?
Thanks!!

There are a ton of festivals going on across the street on West End near the Parthenon year round that are free to all ages, tons of concerts and speakers and dancers doing shows on campus year round, plenty of places you can get to on foot to eat off campus, and a world class Indy movie theater in Hillsboro Village --the Belcourt–a few blocks south on 21st with year round events. All in all, Vandy has a pretty swinging, welcoming overlap with Nashville–keeps you from feeling claustrophobic. Vandy offers free symphony and concert tickets for the big venues now and then on a first come first serve basis as well off campus. Vandy has its own Sarratt Cineman. If you like sports, plenty going on there downtown. Lots of walkable festivals on the Riverfront downtown on weekends. I can’t comment on how under 21 year olds handle the downtown bars re getting in etc. I spent a lot of my 20s roaming Nashville. I am sure the Exit/Inn allows students to attend most of their shows…right off campus.

Most Vanderbilt students do not turn 21 until their Junior or even Senior year. You have nothing to worry about!

Bars do have 18+ nights to cater to college students, but there is plenty to do other than go to bars. With more than half the campus under 21, you’ll find plenty of things to do with your classmates that don’t have an age requirement … or don’t enforce the age requirement.
