Benefit to being NMF other than scholarships??

<p>Are there benefits to being a National Merit Finalist etc even if you don't plan to go to one of the schools that specifically offers National Merit scholarships?</p>

<p>Do other colleges look at it favorably for admissions, or are there sometimes offers of scholarship money for it that aren't listed as one of the automatic or guaranteed scholarships?</p>

<p>Other than listing it as an honor on commonapp, probably not.</p>

<p>Some schools do give a small amount in scholarship but all the top schools pretty much are used to receiving 5k+ apps from NMSFs.</p>
