Bentley University Class of 2022

Does anybody know what the average stats for this school are? Every website I visit has different scores. For example one said the average SAT was 1090-1290 while the others say the 25th percentile is like a 1220.
Is it a hard school to get into??
Also did anyone get a financial aid letter recently? Talking about how to afford bentley. Trying to figure out if its an indication of acceptance or not.

My daughter got that letter, also. It was in email form. Thought that was odd. This school is a reach for my daughter if past decision threads are any indicator.

@momof6kids do you mind sharing her stats?

Not at all.
4.0 unweighted. 1150 SAT. DECA President. Manager of school based enterprise. Work study program(unpaid) in Marketing for two different local businesses. She also runs the social media accounts and blogs for both businesses. She holds 2 after school jobs, one in retail and the other for an accountant.
She’s a varsity soccer player for our team that went to states. Varsity Lacrosse
NHS
Class Congress and school board rep.
Tons of community service and church volunteer hours involvement.

After she applied to the school she was sent 2 reminders to apply for the women’s leadership group and the financial aid email, also. She was admitted to Bryant with a nice schlolarship. Because of her SATs, I consider Bentley a reach.

wow! that’s actually incredible. a 4.0 UNWEIGHTED deff brings up her chances… and i’m in the same position as her with sat scores except my gpa is a 3.7, vice president of my classic, also state qualifying deca all years, mock trial etc. Her and I both deff in the same boat but i’m sure she’s in a better spot! i think she has a shot, did she have an interview with them? not sure how much that matters though

@momof6kids ^^ i also think it’s really weird they’d send a financial aid email about how to afford the school if someone were to get rejected during the application review process, or we may be looking too into it

@ccollege123 Bentley is a reach for me as well. I was already accepted to Bryant but I am in the middle 50% there. I use websites like Niche and Cappex to get an idea what my chances are. I don’t know how they do it but you enter your stats like you did here and they will place you on a scatter gram. According to Niche I score higher than 17% of all of those who were accepted. That’s not great but I am not out of the mix. It’s been pretty accurate so far based on my acceptances and one rejection.

I also got the email on financial aid the other day, plus an email about the new president. I don’t think they mean anything. They went right into my promotional folder. However, I am not going to be able to attend unless I get substantial financial aid. I already have significant merit and financial aid offers and Bentley is the most expensive school I have applied to. I think it’s a great school but I have much more confidence is myself when it comes to getting a job and being successful than I do in the school I am going to, so accumulating additional debt to attend is not something I am going to do.

@ccollege123 she did not interview. Until she could pick a date, because of soccer season, the dates were all filled. @payasugo it’s interesting though, in one thread for a diff school, those accepted got a Christmas card in the Mail before the fact. Anyone deferred on the thread for that school did not…hmmm. Also, I totally agree that’s it up to you to make it work. My oldest, a son is a pharmacist. He went to a guaranteed seat program that has a 100 percent pass rate for the boards. In the program you are required after your 3rd yr to have a full-time Summer Internship. It’s a great school. It’s a great program, but don’t find the internship for you. He had a heck of a time. He ended up having to drive over an hour everyday for the one and only internship he did find . In hindsight, I think he thought it was going to fall into his lap and wasn’t very proactive early enough in the process. It will be up to you to get your internships, your connections and your job. Anything your school provides will just the pieces to the puzzle. You have to put that puzzle together and make it fit.

@momof6kids I went on a tour at Bentley but I didn’t interview. I loved the school. They seemed to focus on internships and I think that’s important as well as the networking of alumni.

The reason I am skeptical about emails and what not is because my brother went through this last year and he was invited to Facebook groups and sent letters from schools he was eventually denied by, so forgive me…

@momofsixkids @payasugo do they not offer the opportunity for a Skype interview if the scheduled in person interviews don’t work?

@suzyQ7 I could be wrong but I thought my daughter checked and they did not…only Bryant offered the Skype interviews.

@payasugo that would def give someone false hope! I think that my daughter has moved her focus to some schools in and around Pittsburgh and Philadelphia at this point. After waiting for a decision so long from somewhere you tend to move on. We are out of state so what she even knows about the New England schools are from her Marketing teacher/DECA Advisor. She was accepted to Bryant, Salve Regina and deferred from Fairfield so far from the New England area.

@momof6kids Salve is in an amazing location, even if she doesn’t want to go there you should go see the mansions in Newport. The school is in the middle of them all, you won’t be disappointed. Bryant is north of there has a nice campus, very business like.

I did some research and it appears that Bentley has in the past released all decisions on a Friday. Last year it was March 17th so is it safe to assume this year it will be March 16th?

My daughter received her decision on March 15th, 2016 which I believe was a Tuesday

Bentley has been my daughter’s #1 choice for a while. However, she has received attractive merit scholarships from some other excellent schools and is taking a closer look at them. As an alumna, I think that Bentley may lose out on some outstanding additions because of how long applicants have to wait for a decision. It’s too bad that Bentley no longer offers EA.

Exactly this! @myredstapler

Maybe they don’t care. Maybe they aren’t interested in students that need to send in their deposit without looking at all of their options. I mean is that an indication of a good business person? It’s a reach for me so the fact that they will be last doesn’t make any difference.

when do decisions come out?

@Heisenberg1700 not sure, I was hoping possibly today because it has been released on Tuesdays before. However, they have a snow day today and all administrative offices are closed so I doubt it will be today
