Berkeley or NYU...PERSUADE ME!

I've been accepted to both. I don't really want to say anything about me because I just want a blanket discussion. Pros and cons on each.
Thank you!!

I think you should visit both if you haven’t. But my take… primarily… UCB has a college campus, a great college town, and that elusive “school spirit.” NYU doesn’t appear to have any of these things from the people I know who go there.

NYU is in the better city, but IMHO if I were a student I’d save NYC for grad school when you might have a bit more money to enjoy it (NYC is obviously expensive). Berkeley is relatively cheap (though only compared to NYC).

It also would depend on the major… NYU has some areas where it excels (the arts, philosophy) from what I hear compared to Berkeley.

Bay Area has more things to do outdoors. The weather is better. Actual park-like campus in an urban setting. San Francisco and area airports accessible via BART. PAC-12 sports. Top-notch academics in practically every major.

I think that understanding what matters to you does make a difference in choosing between two schools that have such different strengths. Are you in-state for UCB and full-pay for NYU? That would change the discussion, as would financial aid packages that make the costs comparable.
