Berkeley Transfer CalSO Experience

when you say grouped by major, does that mean your application major? because i'm pretty sure everyone (excluding Haas and the like) got accepted into the college of letters and science, and has to declare the major later on in the semester.

WingZer0, you're right, but yes, it is by application major. It's just like how within MyBerkeleyApp it has links for what you would do with a career in your application major, etc. I think you should contact CalSO if you want to get grouped with a diff. major.

o, thanks for the fast reply, i think ill just ride it out, see what happens

O hay I was there. It was basically a day-long recapitulation of the web site, but damn, my fellow linguistics majors are awesome. Well, except for this one kid. Oh, and ucbhi, I really hope you're not talking about my mom.

I think I saw tallkell! She is tall.

lol, your moms hot mrmuirc

Haha, she kept getting asked what her major was all day.

lol + a hehe to above...

i hope my CalSo is tight. So no one is going to the July 13 CalSo?

I think I saw tallkell too, but I'm not sure cuz I don't know what her hair color really looks like.

everyone stop hitting on mrmuircs mom,... shes mine! haha

"im on the 29th, why so late card"

WingZero, just wanted as much rest before I have to fly and go to Berkeley (basically before I have any obligations again). I hope this doesn't screw me over with class selection but whatever I'm pretty flexible.

Cardinal...im signed up for the 13th too

sweeet...haha what is your major? I didn't see it on your facebook.

Yea im working on my facebook right now, but my major is psych

U?

ahhhh, damn i love facebook. hella addicting though.

I'm an English major...

Hey Natalie, fellow psych doing the pre-med thing here as well!

I just got back from CalSO. For you Philosophy majors, have you ever wondered how small our major is in terms of the number of students it is responsible for? Here's an indication of that: In a CalSO body comprised of several hundred students, there was exactly one group of persons majoring in Philosophy, which was comprised of a total of eight people (including the counselor and yours truly).

Also, if you haven't filled out that four page packet they ask you to fill out before coming to CalSO, don't bother. Save some of your resources and just know the course control numbers of the classes you want to enroll in and make sure they have different exam periods. You enroll yourself via telebears without the input of any other person. (Also, you'll get to modify the courses you enrolled in during CalSO throughout phase 1, so don't stress too much about your initial decisions.)

As for fellow CC users, the only person I saw was tallkell (her table was just behind the Philosophy table).

Yep, I was aware of that. What were the other philosophy majors like?

They were pretty friendly and very, very diverse. One student was from Iraq and apparently had a very strong interest in Aramiac, there was a Kierkegaard nut, a logic junkie who actually had an articulated logic course under his belt, one guy was a massive fan of existensialism, and the other two guys (Derek and one of the two Jonathans) spent more time getting to know others in the group than discussing their philosophical bents. If your group is anything like mine, you'll like it.

(There was also a girl but she kept disappearing. The other guy in the group I don't remember too well.)

booooooooooooooo existentialism
