Besides Yale?

You can never be too careful. Just have a good idea of which one you want to go to if you get accepted to a good amount but don’t get accepted to Yale. I am sure you will do fine!

Good luck!

If i get accepted to Yale, i’m goin

It would be interesting meeting pigs at Yale if we all get in.

anywaysss herezzzz all mines other skooolzzssss:

harvard, princeton, mit, stanford, cornell, darmouth, brown, columbia, upenn, carnegie mellon, tufts, northeastern, usc?, duke?

i gots a case of anthropophobia, especially with smart people, so don’t get too close please

20 is way much!

im only doing 8 total with 2 safeties. dont apply anywhere that you wouldnt want to go. make your list based on the assumption that you didnt get in to anywhere except your “safeties” and ask yourself if you would be happy there.

I’m also applying to 8 total: (yale), harvard, brown (legacy), MIT, duke, UNC-CH, BU, & GW

I can’t imagine doing more than 8-10 applications… I’ve already written far too many essays, and UNC & MIT aren’t common app :(

^ agreed.

mine are: yale, brown, cornell, hopkins, stanford, sc, gw, and american.

HYP,

Why so many? Because my dear readers, I am dirt poor. I mean not regular poor, my parents make $12K. So its all free! WOOOOO0000ooooo… . . . . .

:D

I don’t see the downside of applying to a few extra schools. $60 for an application? For those who are full pay, that’s nothing compared to the $50k/yr if admitted. For those who are not, fee waivers will cover for many. On the upside, very few, including those w/ great stats are shoo-ins for HYPSM. Silverturtle’s analysis shows even w/ 2300+ 4.0 odds are less than 50%. Why not have some options at the next tier? If you care about going to school with the best possible students, why take the risk of ending up at a safety school?

I’m applying to Yale, Brown, Harvard, Columbia, Stanford, Pomona, UChicago, Carnegie Mellon, a local school, a state school, and an art school (as safeties).

If I get into Yale, then I’m basically applying to Brown and one of the California/NYC schools above. But I’m pretty much going to go to Yale if I get in… fingers crossed for D-Day!!

^christiansoldier, what major are you applying under? I would like to say that the UCs are my backup as well, but I’m probably going to go into engineering… and to make matters worse, I heard that admissions will be even more unpredictable this year due to the economy.

I’m applying for economics, or some variation thereof, for all of my UCs. From what I’ve seen at school, UCs are a total numbers game as long as you’re in-state. Last year, about 30 kids from my school got into Berkeley, virtually all under some sort of science or engineering major. To put our applicant quality into perspective, nobody got into Stanford.

I’d say that if you’re competitive at Yale, you have absolutely nothing to worry about from the UCs, regardless of which major you’re applying under. Also, I’m not sure where you live, but through ELC I’m guaranteed admission to Davis.

^ UC admission is pretty much based on your GPA ( top 1- 10 %) and SATs ( 2300 +) and you’ll be guaranteed admission. Last year about 14 applied and more than half got into LA and Cal.
