DS is OOS and will major in accounting at University of Alabama Fall 2011. Chose UA because of its highly recruited Accounting program combined with his lucrative Presidential Scholarship. He will graduate with no debt and will bank his college savings for his MBA. UA has been very generous with his AP credits and is bringing 39 credits (would not accept his 2nd AP English).

Would encourage your brother to maintain a minimum of 3.5 GPA and up his ACT score or SAT (Critical REading and Math only) for UA scholarships. Get ACT private tutoring, if necessary. Here are just 2 scholarships that are worth looking into:
UA Scholar
An out-of-state first time freshman student who meets the December 1st scholarship priority deadline, has a 30-31 ACT or 1330-1390 SAT* score and at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA will be selected as a UA Scholar and will receive 2/3 tuition for four years.

Presidential Scholar
An out-of-state first-time freshman student who meets the December 1st scholarship priority deadline, has a 32-36 ACT or 1400-1600 SAT* score and at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA will be selected as a Presidential Scholar and will receive the value of out-of-state tuition for four years.

*SAT scores are calculated using critical reading and math scores only.
The highest ACT composite score from one test date, excluding the writing portion, is reviewed for initial eligibility.

There are only 2 more ACt test dates before scholarship deadline in September and October. I would go ahead and take the December 10 ACT test though because UA did take that score for DS. Also encourage to visit the UA forum within College Confidential as it is one of the most active and insightful forums here.
