Best and Worst things about your ethnicity

<p>Malaysian Chinese</p>

<p>Pros:

  1. Good fusion food! (sad to say I don’t like authentic Chinese food)
  2. I know 3 languages + dialects
  3. Culture is amazing.
  4. History is even more amazing!</p>

<p>Cons:

  1. People are stunned when I open my mouth because I don’t speak Chinglish/Manglish and I talk loud. (apparently Chinese peeps don’t talk loud)
  2. People doubt me when I tell them that I don’t know much Mandarin & can’t read the words. Then they start blabbing in Mandarin and laugh when I tell them I really can’t understand them.
  3. I’m expected to have a J-pop/whatever you call it style. Jeans & tees or sweaters are weird and considered “trying too hard to be white” (this also applies to my lack of knowledge in Mandarin & my fluency in English. BAH!)</p>
