Best AP Prep Books

Hello everyone :)

well the AP exams are jsut around the corner! I'm taking Biology , US History and Eng Language
I really want to go out and buy a book for each, but i dont know what to buy!

Which book is the best for each subject? Why do you think its a good book?

Thanks :D

Biology - APCliff; because many people on CC said so. Moreover, there has been some CCers who self-studied using only this study guide and received a 5.

U.S. History - AMSCO; actually a good book. Concise and straightforward with the information and CCers also used this and received a 5.

Eng Language - APCliff; useful only for MC. It’s similar to the real AP exam.

PS - I already hav AMSCO for APUSH

& i want to get 5 steps to a 5 for Biology, is it good? from what ive been told its an awesome book. so would 5 steps to a 5 also be good for APUSH& Eng LAng?

I heard 5 steps to a 5 is good for AP English essay and it gives you more practice with MC.

5 steps APUSH is the best I’ve seen. Although I’ve never seen AMSCO. The author is slightly entertaining and it is easy to follow.

@puggly123 - did you use 5 steps to a 5 for APUSH? how did you do on the AP exam? what does the book hav in it?

@mdh625- I am taking the exam this year. I only recently looked through the book, and read a few chapters. From what I read, it was great.

Consolidated book suggestions for AP

^^^ That was last edited in 12-22-2005…

i used 5 steps toa 5 for world history and it was amazing! i’m thinking of using it for chem and apush, any suggestions?

Just because 5 steps to a 5 is great for APWH doesn’t mean it’s great for Chem and USH. Every study guide is written by a different author who specializes in that particular subject.

5 steps to a 5 for chem - not so great. As a recommendation, PR is better.

Cliffs and Barrons for Bio barrons helped me more in the class overall but cliffs helped me more for the midterm because barrons was very detailed
Personaly imm using cliffs and then on things I still dont get barrons since its detailed
Both are great!

i decided to go with PR for chem because pretty much everyone raves about it and go with 5 steps for apush

For Bio- Cliffs(HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW)
For APUSH- AMSCO(THE BEST)
For Lang- IDK lol.

agreed, cliffs IS amazing, i’ve been using it all year long to complement my in class instruction and curriculum which helps me do very well on tests

would 5 steps to a 5 be good for apush (in addition to AMSCO)?

would you prefer cliffs or 5 steps to a 5 for Biology? why?

Definitely Cliffs over 5 steps to a 5

APUSH - Amsco + Crash Course = 5
AP Lang - IDK (sorry)
AP Bio - Cliffs is the consensus choice

i heard for AP lang, cliffs is the way to go. thats why i myself just ordered it the other day
