Best Applicant Ever Rejected From Ivy or other top school???

I’m just making this thread cause I’m bored and I think it’ll be interesting.

What is the best applicant you’ve ever seen rejected from a top school? This isn’t just a kid who got a 4.0 and a 36 cause Ivies reject more 4.0/36 kids than they accept. I’m talking about kids who did unbelievable things in high school that somehow got rejected.

For example, in an article about MIT admissions they said they once rejected a kid who made a nuclear reactor in his garage. I’m talking those kinds of stories. But I guess any stories will do if nobody replies.

Just wait until April and go through the results threads to find your examples.

Or go through past year’s results. Google “MIT Class of 2020 Results” and a thread will pop up.

And remember, this is the internet: not everything said here is true.

Agree with the others. Look at any top school’s results threads from last year and you will see amazing applicants who were rejected from all kinds of schools. You will also find amazing applicants rejected from safety schools because they didn’t show interest.

You will also find kids with “perfect” stats who are rejected from schools because they are not the right fit. Vassar is known for doing this if the student is too uniform, too cookie cutter. They are looking for students who clearly have their own minds and aren’t afraid to show that, and to back up their opinions well.

4.0 unweighted, 2400, 17 APs (all 5, all self-studied (school didn’t offer APs at all)), four SAT-2 800s, top-25 world individual debater, school president, rave rec letters, great essays.

Went on to double major in English Lit and Math at a top-three LAC.

Going back a few years, how about Dr. Steven Chu? Nobel prize in physics; Secretary of Energy under Obama. In his words:

Go to this bitly: 2iXFIbo for his fascinating story.

@pickpocket could you send the link again?

Me. JK go through the other threads like the other posters have suggested and you will probably find what you are looking for
