I would go to school to be a nurse or social worker. There are many jobs and opportunities for nurses or social workers who are good at business. Follow your passion and you will make more money.

@GTalum

That would be so hard though! I would have to give up all my experience and start at zero. I am just unsure I have that kind of time though.

Thank You! Thank You! This is the kind of advice that I need! Believe it or not this helps!

Does anyone care about me?

GSU has a very respected business school. I would earn my BA from there and then worry about the rest later. Do well in your courses and then you will have options for an MBA.

I would actually not recommend a degree in social work if future income is a concern. I know many in metro Atlanta who are struggling.

Thank you so much for your comments. I think I have landed on GSU. I will probably do the Mark Robinson Business School and be happy with that. If I went GT that would take another year of Calculus and I believe I just do not have the time for that atm.

Yes I do want a Degree where I can fall back on and make some decent money. I will trying to open up my own business first and if that does not pan out I have some other options and if that does not work out I will use my business Degree’s and work for places like IBM, AT&T, ETC …

Anything new? I think I have decided to go to GSU Mark Robinson Business School. I do not think I have the time to take 3 semesters of Calculus; I wish I did but o well.

I think this is a good move. I will just get my BA and MBA combined and knock it out in an accelerated program.

Please help me if you care about other people…

I don’t think the accelerated program will do as much for you as you think it will.

So take one step at a time. Get your BA. You don’t know what paths that will lead to. Good luck to you!

You are at the same age as I was when I changed careers from nursing to insurance. Now, 23 years later, I can’t imagine working the past 23 years in a job I didn’t enjoy just because I had spent the first 8 years of my working life doing that. So what if you have 10 years of business experience? What difference does that make for what you want to do the rest of your life? Follow your heart and as they say “don’t throw good money (or time) after bad” . Now is your chance to reinvent yourself into whatever you want to do.
One of my friends is in his 50’s and is just finishing nursing school after years in the business profession. Doesn’t regret it one bit and wishes he had done it earlier.

If you have the luxury of going back to school make it count.

It’s J. Mack Robinson. Mack, with a C, not an R. Sorry, but it was irritating me.

Georgia Tech actually has one of the top 30 business schools in the country. It also has one of the top undergraduate business programs in the country. The program does emphasize business applications in science and technology, but it has generalist business classes just like any other program. The calc 1/calc 2 thing will be an issue, though, so either you’ll have to take it before you transfer or you can do an MBA there.

UGA’s Terry College is also a good solid business program - its business school is in the top 50 in the country. Their undergraduate program is also very good, so that also may be a better bang for your buck too. UGA is generally more recognized nationally and regionally than GSU.

GSU’s J. Mack Robinson school is pretty good regionally but is unranked nationally. If you plan to stay in the Southeast, GSU is a good choice. Also, for undergrad GSU is a fine choice for a bachelor’s in business. It’s affordable and you can always get your MBA somewhere else.

Emory I would save for the MBA, unless you got substantial merit aid or other non-repayable aid for the BBA.

None of these schools seem to have BA/MBA programs, though.

@Everyone [UPDATE]

Well since I can’t go to GT because I am to dumb. I am thinking about GSU [Georgia State University] and KSU [Kennesaw State University. Since no one outside of GA will really know who GSU is anyway I am now thinking about going to KSU. It is cheaper; less traffic; and a whole lot safer. I mean if I am just going to get that boxed checked saying that I have a degree cannot KSU do that for me? I hear it is a very nice school and up and coming. It is nationally accredited at least right? Not just regionally or local; not sure if that is right.

Anyway I mean I could spend another year getting all the calculus I need for GT but I just do not feel it is worth it this late in the game and I really think I am behind the eight ball anyway. Plus I really am not that smart and do not have the engineering mind that is required. I mean I do have some talent just not in MATH; even though I know I could get straight A’s in it like I have been. I just feel it is more mechanical then a talent; I do not enjoy it.

Well any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I have a couple more months to apply because I already tried and it is two early; so please help away!

HELLO! DOES ANYONE CARE?

You don’t want to listen to the advice you’ve been given and yet you keep asking for more- is that rational?

And what does “safer” mean? I get less traffic; I get cheaper, but why would you make a decision based on safety-- it’s not like you’re a 17 year old teenager who has never lived away from home before.

So you think GSU is better choice?

Please Help Me! Anyone? Please! I Need You! I Am Having Anxiety And Can’t Sleep!

Choose one. Any one. Commit to it, and get on with your life.

None of us have a magic ball to tell you whether A will lead to something better than B. You have to just take a chance. If taking chances is too anxiety-inducing, then deal with the anxiety issues before you try to deal with the college issues. In the long run, getting the anxiety thing sorted out could be the most valuable use of your time right now.

PLEASE HELP ME!

Okay I talked to someone again. I was really thinking about going to KSU. But they said that when you leave Georgia and anyone ask you where you went to school. No one is going to know where KSU is or what it is. BUT they will know Georgia State. So you can simply say; where did you graduate. O well Georgia State; they will know its legit.

Just choose one and go with it. Your making this a bigger deal than it needs to be.

I think I am going to apply for GSU and KSU.

Good plan. If you only get into one, then you have your answer. In the meantime, take calc. If you don’t get into either, then you can apply to GT.

Keep your options open. Apply to more than one school. Why worry today when you can put it off until tomorrow. Stress out when you have been admitted to more than one, and have to decide. At that point, net cost may be a big factor. If you are only admitted to one school, then there is nothing to stress about.

Excellent point thank you
