Hey there,

I'm taking the January SAT Math Subject Test (Level 1). What's the best book(s) for preparing for this test? Thanks!

I used Barron’s, Kaplan, and McGrawHill. They were all good but Barron’s had the best review chapters, but McGrawHill had the most practice tests! Good luck! I took the exam in Dec

Sounds good – thanks!

Also, is a graphing calculator necessary for the Math 1 SAT? I was going through some of the practice problems for the Math Level 1 SAT on College Board’s website, and the answer to one of the problems (it had to do with finding the zeros of a polynomial function of degree 4) stated that there was no algebraic way to solve it, so a graphing calculator is needed. So is a graphing calculator strongly recommended for the Math SATs?

Yes I would definitely recommend having a graphic calculator. There are a few problems that would take far too long to solve without one.

Alright, thanks!

Barron’s is generally regarded as the best book for Math II since it’s a bit tougher than the exam and more in-depth in terms of concepts, so I would wager that it would be the same for Math I.
