I am a high school student in Wisconsin who is serious about both academics and dance (largely focusing on ballet). I would like to go to a college where I can get a comprehensive education with a double major in Anthropology/International Relations AND a minor in dance performance. However, it’s very hard to find a college that has a ballet-focused dance program that is just as good as its Anthropology and/or International Relations programs. My educational majors are obviously a priority, but I still want a good enough dance education so that I can get into a company for a few years prior to diplomacy work. It’s a rare case, but hopefully somebody can help!
Here are potential colleges/what I think I’m looking for (but I’m definitely open minded)
I am thinking about colleges that are…
-close to a city with lots of internship opportunities, but not too urban (~suburban campus)
-places I can start/join international relations-related clubs, ex a ONE campus chapter, developmental aid areas
-not too freezing (WI is cold enough)
-great for my two academic majors, pretty good for dance
Right now, some potentials are:
-Wash U in St. Louis (I fit really well into their stats, but can’t find a lot about their dance program)
-Dominican (has a GREAT dance program, especially for taller dancers, but I don’t know about it academically…)
-Pomona (dance seems mediocre at best, but close-ish to my dream company in San Fran)
-Tufts
-USC
While it may seem like these are narrow requirements, I am very open minded about colleges and would love your suggestions. Thank you in advance for your help!
