Happykid and her college-tour buddies would have handwritten their apps in the admissions office before they let us go back to the car if we’d seen anything like that while on a college tour. Love it!

Funny!

Here’s a story for the group. Back when I was touring as a prospective student (23 years ago), my Mom and I were taking a tour at Auburn University (where I eventually attended and graduated). It was a very warm, sunny day. Auburn is known for it’s Golden Eagle named Tiger. Tiger attended all the football games and back then, she was kept in an outdoor cage in a prominent location on campus. Passing by the cage to hear the story of the War Eagle was a part of every tour. That day as our tour guide walked us up to the cage, she suddenly looked very serious, turned a bit pale, and covered her mouth with both hands as she gasped, “Oh my God! She (the eagle) is dead!” The eagle was on the ground, laying spread eagle, huge wings outspread, head sideways on the ground. My Mom looked at me and I at her - we’re thinking this isn’t good. About that time, the eagle’s head popped up and she starts looking around. It seems she was just trying to cool off in the dirt, but the tour guide had never seen her do that! Today Tiger is living in the Auburn Raptor Center, she is retired from flying at games. It is estimated that she is 25 to 30 years old, one of the oldest eagles in captivity.

I’m always really tempted to do something ridiculous when there are tour groups around campus. Once I ended up walking past a tour group as the guide asked, “Does anyone know what the ‘Freshman 15’ is?” And I just shouted “I do!” and kept walking.

My cousin was an RA at her university and was in the dining hall, sitting across from her friend when a tour group came through. Her back was to the group, so she decided to start loudly talking about a crazy made up party full of alcohol. The group couldn’t actually see her face, so instead she got to watch as her friend turned beet red on her behalf as he got all of “those looks” from the parents in the tour.

I have been known to bake cinnamon rolls and Boston Cream Pie for visiting students, though…

Great story!

These stories are fun. Love the clever folks

I shared the story with my D14 and she immediately wanted to find out the name of the school and professor. (-:

Funny! thanks
