This is the thread that had caught my attention when I started to research last year for son. Would love to hear some current updates. We still do not have a final list from son for his CS major colleges.

Does anyone have any comments on Endicott in MA?

I also would suggest that students look at Rider University in New Jersey. Known for its business program but it also has a very good English Department and top notch faculty in Geology, go figure.

I also like Westminster College in Pennsylvania and U of Alabama-Birmingham is one of my favorite state colleges. UAB has one of the strongest life sciences programs (undergraduate and graduate) in the southeast, better than some of the bettern known big state schools.

times have changed for sure but some colleges that were under the radar a year or two ago have done so much crative marketing that all of sudden they are rejecting even very qualified students or donât give aid ect.Stonehill is one of those schools Fairfield is good for business only and the cost is 53K so things arenât want they seem the good thing is that with the economy crashing parents donât have the funds like they used to and these schools are changeing tacktics but donât be fooled colleges up the marketing and once they have the high numbers of applicats they reject most but these days itâs back firing on them because kids are not enrolling.and the twist this year 2010-2011 is that all the over achivers and top10% 25% 30% kids are going to all the state schools and community colleges and yes ivy mini ivy baby ivy you cannot get near those so the tables are turning a bit. yet these schools will not lower their fees I a sure you their endowments are much lower than they used to be too so aid will be much differant.I noticed at the college and high school fairs that they are sending retired high school recruiters to fill in for the college admission people to save money on travel problem is these people most give out wrong or dated information. and the colleges are not hiring professors they are bring in TAâs.busines is business but they donât tell you that they still keep up the image of tough to get accepted high application rates itâs all smoke and mirrors if your not an IVY or mini IVY applicant donât worry work hard senior year and apply where ever you see a fit.there is plenty of room for a hardworking students, also schools mentioned in this forum donât mention that some schools donât offer all majors we found while looking with our son that some great schools didnât have a major but they still make you think that they can provide it in a round about way through Liberal arts when it was just not so. B students shouldnât go to a school like Bucknell if they are looking for business they are mainly an engineering school with an almost non existant business program. Loved Mc.Daniel but again tiny intro to business administration itâs a libral arts school terrific though.just some examples just be aware.just donât fall for the college selectivity scam. donât buy the printed books they are all outdated and they all say the same thing.truth is all colleges want the top students that they can get and make as much money off of them as possible and if daddy and mommy are willing to pay for a building then grandbabies will also be admitted but for our normal average students hard work is the only way to find a gem.The shame is that some colleges who love to be known as party schools are not ashamed of that or the students they attrack but somehow itâs almost impossible for a average student who is not willing to be a lush and just wants an oppertunity at a good academic school has to beg on college fourms for advice.
