<p>I would like to go into film scoring and scoring for TV shows and such after college.
I know USC is one of the best and Berklee is the only college that offers an undergrad in film scoring.
But are there any others that are pretty good in getting one prepared for that field?</p>
<p>Those are my only two guesses, but i’ve always been interested in/loved film scoring, actually when i was 11 i wrote a 5 piece orchestra called “cinema noir” and i won a national award for it…anyways, Berklee’s my top choice and if i get in i’ll be majoring in film scoring or music production and engineering. UCLA/USC are others i have heard of, i really don’t know much about other programs sadly…I wish it was more prevalent. obviously most music schools have music composition but that is entirely different than preparing to write scores for entertainment</p>

<p>These are a sampling. Redo title searchs on “film scoring” and “composition”, and you’ll get the rest. You can do title searches on the school names as well.</p>
<p>There are some knowledgeable and helpful posters like SpiritManager and compmom, Hunt, kmcrindle, and others that have students in composition programs that may be able to flesh out more specifics.</p>

<p>I don’t specifically remember but NYU might be worth investigating-?</p>
<p>Hampshire is great for film, maybe that would afford chances to write scores-? But not so sure about the music classes there: check out the 5 college consortium.</p>
<p>Music composition students at North Carolina School of the Arts write scores for the film students’ works.</p>
<p>Spirit Manager can tell you about Bard, which might be a possibility. Others will come on and answer, too. </p>
<p>One response, also, is that getting a foundation in composition at any conservatory (or college, if that is your preference) is always a good thing, and then you can go on to specialize. But that is up to you of course, and there are, as you say, a couple of programs like Berklee where you can start with that focus earlier.</p>
