Best computer for engineering?

I need to get a good computer for engineering but I hate and I should make this clear HATE windows with a passion for both technical ,logistical and moral reasons.I need opinions on whether or not I should get a linux machine or a mac all flames aganist macs or linux will be ignored.valid criticism will not.

Even though you hate windows, AMD 64 bit is really good, especially for computer games, and I figure engineering applications cant require much more or less than the latest computer games.

You don't need a good computer for engineering, since you'll be using lab computers with specialized design software for most of your needs.

Get a PC drop Linux & Windows on it, and then dual boot, this way you have Windows for school work (and you will need it, IE AutoCAD, etc...) use Linux to do whatever else and do school work on it when you can.

1 PC, 2 Operating Systems, happy happy.

scorp I think thats the best idea I have heard in a while
thanks
