Best deals for laptop

What is the best deal for laptop right now? Right now I am looking torwards dell becuase I have a few coupons. Are there any better out there? Thanks :)

If you're buying a laptop to use for college this fall, I'd hold off a little longer, for the sales will become a bit better, and the technology a tad greater.

Right now, Dell E1505 with the core duo,512mb, 40gb, wireless is selling for around $700 on dell. Thats probably the cheapest laptop with the new processor. Dell also has the E1405 which is the same as the E1505 but with a 14.1" screen so it is lighter and is probably $50 more.

do you really think the price will change that much? Maybe I should put it off until August then because I will be away for most of the summer.

I thought that laptops would be more expensive during the summer because everybody would be scrambling to get them for college. Hmm

Oh yeah, I have some laptop technical questions I want to ask. Whats the difference in getting a 40gb hardrive laptop plus a 80gb backup drive as opposed to upgrading from 40gb to 120gb laptop?

If backing up your computer is something on your mind, wait with me until next month with the Lenovo V100 series comes out. Great screen, finger print reader password, built in webcam, one button backup, tons of security, well built, centrino duo processor, and at a reasonable price.

<a href="http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/notebooks/3000/v-series/preview.html?re=home_News_us%5B/url%5D">http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/notebooks/3000/v-series/preview.html?re=home_News_us</a></p>

Um, I meant to say that the 80gb backup would be used as an extension to my 40gb laptop, since that would be cheaper than upgrading to a 120gb harddrive. Is there any disadvantage to that? How do backup machines like the one I mention work?

Thanks for your suggestion

I don't know if merom will come out soon...

btw, merom is the next generation dual-core from Intel... It's supposed to be 20% faster than core duo, cost the same, and consume the same amount of power... and it's 64-bit capable!

The Mermon series will be presented in the Fall, and won't be sold until November of this year. Also consider the price of this new processor won't be cheap. If we were class of 2011, then it'd be worth it, but for us ehh. Besides, what's out there now gets the job done.

Oh, so it wouldn't make a difference if I buy my laptop now rather than in August? Does Dell usually have good coupons in August or no?

the Dell E1505 is by far the cheapest laptop with the new core duo processor.

yeah I was thinking of buying that with the $450 off coupon for 1499+ laptops. But I won't be using it until the fall and I will be away for most of the summer anyway. When should I buy it?

amd > intel

If the chip that Acer Computers Inc uses is AMD, Anything>>>>>>>AMD.

How much does that one cost?

ASUS Z62F packs a core duo and I could get one for 3 digits...

But with the upgrades I would want on it it would be more around 1100-1200 or so

im pretty sure acer uses AMD

Acer and HP and Compaq use AMD. Dell just announced that they will start using AMD a few days ago.

OK, then Anything>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>AMD, because Acer computers SUCK.

where I buy cheap harddrives for backup?

<a href="http://www.newegg.com%5B/url%5D">www.newegg.com</a> however what's the big deal about you wanting to back up so bad? Are you putting important files on it or something? If you are just upload them to your g-mail account or estlabish an FTP server. I don't see the point of going out and buying another hd just for backup...
