Best engineering schools I can get into?

I'm looking for the best engineering schools I might have a chance at. It doesnt have to be something that is 100% known for engineering, but really anything considered good (or better)

White male, junior; decent catholic preparatory school in Queens, NY

GPA- 96.917/100
Top 10% of class. Could be higher but we dont rank.

Not such a strong schedule, I'll show honors classes..
- 9th- english and global honors (as well as regular algebra 2)
- 10th- bio and math analysis honors
- 11th- calculus, chem, spanish 3 honors
- 12th- i'll be taking physics honors and AP calc, psych, bio

SAT I- took in January and just took May. Probably improved only a few points
CR 600, M 740, W 610
*will be taking the June ACT, probably will be getting 28 or 29

SAT II- should I not send these?
- Bio- 680
- Math 1- 670
- Math 2- 700
* Chem in June.. should I re-do Math 2?? ****

In school EC's
- NHS 11-12
- Math Honor Society 10-12. will run for a leadership position next year
- Science Honor Society 11-12
- Spanish Honor Society 12
- Math team 9-11
- Greek Club 9-12. President senior year
- Franciscan Youth Movement- random volunteering things. 11-12
- Intramural Softball- 11-12

More than 100 hours of 'school service' service.. things like open house/tours, helping with parent+teacher nights, incoming freshman nights, etc.

Tutoring every year, a lot of hours

Laboratory aide/assistant. Help teachers when they have lab

"PS 4 Big brother" Senior year I'll be going with other seniors to the elementary school (which is for special education kids) behind my HS and help out. Once a week

Will be a peer counselor starting end of summer and into senior year. Help the freshman begin their school year. Volunteering here. Will hopefully help with my school's 'summer academy', summer camp thing for middle schoolers

Out of School EC's:
- Baseball- 9,10
- Tutoring- every year, MANY hours. this year i do atleast 2 hours every week with a 5th grader with ADD
- Boy Scouts- every year, but starting 10th (and for 11 an 12) I became a Junior Assistant Scout Master where i volunteer with the younger kids (cub scouts.) A LOT of hours.
- Greek Orthodox Youth Association- social kinda group, meet every week for 2 hours, do some service events. every year

Letters of Recommendation: (should be good)
- Guidance counselor, Math teacher (from 10&11- head of department), Chem teacher

Essays:
- I don't know about these.. kinda scared for them. I've no idea what to write about and I'm not the best writer heh..
Maybe I can write about my leadership being an assistant scoutmaster with boy scouts or tutoring the 5th grader with ADD

Check out RIT, U Rochester

Perhaps Purdue might be of interest.

Wisconsin, Penn State, Purdue, Ohio State, Mich State.

+1 on barrons’ suggestions. maybe include GT and UT-Austin which can be reaches as well.

Look at RIT, RPI and WPI.

Look at Bucknell. It’s top rated in engineering. Don’t know if your stats are good enough. Check it out.

Virginia Tech though I personally love Barron’s list- love Big Ten schools.

Son is at SUNY Buffalo. Similar ranking to RIT, Delaware, Syracuse for undergrad engineering. Was accepted there and others (who remembers now!!??) along with VT. The engineering curriculum is tough everywhere. Survived freshman year with incredible grades. Perfect fit for him.

For tech schools RPI, RIT, WPI, Clarkson

For cheaper options try Buffalo, Stony Brook, Binghamton

Unless you want Nanoscale Science/Engineering then UAlbany is the way to go.

If you decide to do petroleum engineering, the University of Tulsa is one of the top schools in the nation for that.

Is money an issue? Several of the UCs could be good possibilities but they cost over $50K/yr and it will take 5 years.

Villanova and Lehigh have great programs. Most Ivies dont have great programs but Cornell might be worth a glance. Caringie Melon is on the rise as well and MIT is a reach for you, but I would apply anyway.

I drank 7 Caringie Melons on the beach in Jamaica once. Never gonna do THAT again.

I would recommend applying to Michigan EA. They do not require the SAT II, so do not send them.

In June, when you take the Chem SAT II, retake Math level 2 and bio. You can take 3 at once, so why not? I’m sure your math score will rise and you are so close to a 700 in bio.
