RAWR i really wanted a sony vaio SZ premium but my mom wont let me. she says it's not worth the price. sigh. i guess i'll have to settle for something else that's small and beautiful.

i would recommend apple any day. its the most solid, stable and sleek machine u can buy. its a good investment and plus u can run windows on it now. so u don't have to worry about compatibility.

Any high end Dell stacked with top end hardware. Seriously, I don't know of any other vendor (other than the ridiculous Alienware laptops) that sells laptops equipped so well. An Inspiron E1705 I plan on getting will have a 2 GHz processor, 2GB of 667 MHz RAM, 100GB 7200 RPM hard drive, and 17" 1920x1200 screen plus a 256MB GeForce 7900 Go GS, all for just $2300. Plus two batteries just in case.

I'm used to carrying 15-20+ pounds on my back, I like to have everything with me (during my senior year I had 5 binders, one for each class, my physics textbook, my calculus textbook, and some literature books all in my backpack). For me it was never a hard load. A 9 pound laptop for me is well worth the amenities (a 17" LCD is too sweet to pass up).
