Best Laptop available

Brandwise..whats the best?

Ive heard HP

what about Dell, Sony?

Toshiba!(10 char)

I also heard that IBM/Lenovo's Thinkpad is pretty good. Personally, I despise Dell. It really depends, I think, on each person's respective experience/nightmares with certain brands. Sometimes you're lucky with a good one, sometimes you're not. Also, Sony is generally good--but expensive.

yeah Thinkpads are probably one of the best... you do pay for it. Dell and HP are good for the more price sensitive.

Panasonic Toughbook if you aren't thinking about price.

Either Toshiba, IBM, or Sony Vaio

Toshiba A65/A75s have hardware issues so don't get them. Other Toshibas are fine, as far as I know.

For windows-based laptops, you can't beat the IBM thinkpad in terms of quality of construction and durability.
That being said, Apple laptops are just as well made as IBMs (if not better), and so are much more solid than any other PC brand.

thinkpad, asus, hp business class.

eh, all of the aforementioned brands are made by the lowest bidder, usually by the same company even.

What you really care about it how much money a company wants to spend making a product, which makes it less prone to breakdowns. This is generally, but not always, reflected by price.

IBM/Lenovo, Apple, Sony, Acer, Fujitsu, Dell, in that order.

Lenovo - Since IBM spun their PC division off, I have been hearing horror stories about product quality. Major downhill reports
Sony Vaio laptops - One very bad experience. A laptop display tanked, under warranty, yet took months to get repaired. Sent to some service center where for a long time nothing got done. Good thing most project files were backed up to either the server or to a flash stick. Due to this experience Sony is off the company's list
HP- support's gone downhill (aftermath of Carly Fiorina). Have some HP platforms for CAD, but will not be replaced with HP's when retired.
Dell - I don't know how the consumer support is, my dealings are on a corporate account. That said, my experience with service has been excellent. Any hardware problems (very few) have resulted in same day on site service. Full disclosure, I did get the service package, however, downtime can be disastrous to business.

I can vouch for HP, never had any problems.

^ thats more the exception than the rule, from what I've seen. I worked at a computer repair place, and half of our laptops were HP/Comcrap (... Compaq)

DELL XPS for sure if you want the best gaming, and it is still superb in all other areas. Its graphics card is the same as then one in the 36O!!!

I heart HP.
Dell is supposedly wonderful if you're corporate, and horrid otherwise. I'm not a gamer so i'm definitely not too impressed w/them.

They all good. Don't buy Dell XPS, there are much more stuff to do in college than to play games.

How about Dell Inspiron 6400?

i hate dell (bought a home desktop and it freezes constantly and is slow) but love hp (no problems at all).

the sony vaio's come in really nice colors =)

Okay, my budget is about 1500 for a laptop... what shall I get?

Thinkpads are out of my budget range? I kidna wnat one, but they seem to be 2500+
