Hi I really want to master a bunch of languages in college, preferably Chinese (I am Chinese), Japanese, and French, and i will most likely be studying abroad a few times.

Would linguistics be the best major for someone like me who just wants to become fluent in languages?

I'm 99 % sure I'm going into medicine so I'm not worried about career prospects.

Also, are there any specific colleges that meet my needs? I've been looking at Dartmouth.

Linguistics would probably be the major you’re looking for at some schools. At other schools you might best be suited by the Foreign Languages major-- this major typically allows students to study on 2- or 3-language tracks. My alma mater, Scripps College in the Claremont Colleges consortium, offers this kind of major, but I also know that Lewis & Clark College in Portland offers this type of major as well.

French is the only Romance language you mention.

But if you ever are interested in more Romanic languages I would look into majoring in Latin.

Linguistcs is the study of language, not the same as aiming for spoken and written fluency. You’d need to pick a language or two and dig as deep as your schedule allows, working around pre-med requirements.

Latin would be the most useful when it comes to helping you with medical concepts and terminology. I would say just take as many courses around pre-med as you can, just as lookingforward suggested.
