Best Method to Apply to I-Banks

I just created a bangin’ resume today, and tomorrow I will finish up my application to SEO’s investment banking program. I plan on sending it in before their 2nd round deadline, which is coming up soon. However, I don’t want SEO to be my only outlet.

What other ways should I apply to i-banks? It seems like e-mailing my resume straight to the address listed on the company’s website is a crapshoot. One of my friends, who now has a full-time IB position at JP Morgan, gave me some advice:

Gather the contact info (e-mail or phone) for the hiring manager or person in charge of hiring at every single investment bank you can find.

Call them up first, do not sound needy, and start inquiring about their company. Find common ground and work your way towards subtley asking about internships.

if they say they are interested, e-mail them your resume.

anyone have any other methods or best practices to get an i-banking internship for summer 2008?

i know i have started VERY late, because i think most i-banks have already hired their quota for internships already…

please share ALL info you have

you already got great suggestion

what if you can't get in touch with them when you call them?...would emailing them be jest as effective or inquiring about internship info?

I recommend always contacting on the phone, if you cant get them directly then call again.

Most people will just skip over your email if its not important.
