Guess the title says it all...

Bernatowicz.

I thought he only teaches the 196/7 sequence. If you are taking 117/118, I wouldn’t stress on choosing the correct instructor. The professors are all equally bad.

^Well someone hasn’t paid attention to the physics dept in several years… they’re phasing out 117. Next fall there’s only 1 section of 117, and 5 of 197.

But as RaVN said, Berny. Berny all the way.

/thread.

So for BME, which physics am I supposed to take?
If it’s 117, the section is taught by Solin. How is he?

You can take either one, although 197 is supposed to be geared more toward people who are engineering/science-oriented. Solin is really bad, so you should take 197 if you want to enjoy the class. Bernatowicz is the best by far, Hynes/Israel/Ferrer are decent at best, and I don’t know anything about Wagoner.

Thanks. So right now on the registration worksheet, as I posted in another thread, I have 5 classes Mondays and none on Tuesdays or Thursdays. The only class that it looks like I can switch to Tuesday/Thursday is Physics, but I would be switching from 197 with Bernatowitz into 117A with Solin. Should I switch?

No. Don’t switch. But don’t forget that you need to sign up for a chem lab section, a physics lab section, and a calc recitation. Those can be on various days, including Tuesday and Thursday. The calc recitations are all on Tuesday, in fact.

You really don’t want 5 classes on any one day. Wait until you have all your weekly homework due on that day, or multiple tests on that day, and you’ll regret it.

Try spread things out as best as you can.

Generally, I would agree, but 5 pre-med gen ed lectures on one day isn’t that bad. You’ll only have homework for calc and physics, and all tests are in the evening, on different days. In this situation, I think 5 lectures on Monday is manageable enough such that the cons of switching outweigh the benefits.

Yes, you do have classes on T/Th. You’re not filling out the registration worksheet correctly.

Calc II recitations are on Tuesday. They’re mandatory- when quizzes are given.
Chem recitations are on Thursdays. Same deal.

If you’re really worried about it, put your physics and chem lab sections (one is 4 hours, the other is 2.5, I think?) on Tues & Thursday too.
