In your opinion, where are the best places to study at Vanderbilt?
My son says Stevenson library is one of the best places on campus to study. Always silent, always open. (And you don’t have to be a STEM major to study there, of course.)
Some classrooms are also left open all night. Vandy has a rather rigorous Communications program. Son took intro to Speech–a popular but demanding intro course. It seems that he went to an empty classroom after midnight to memorize and practice a speech till the wee hours in solitude. Next day he reported to class, stood up and had forgotten the entire thing.
So there is the matter of “what hours should you sleep instead of study?” ha.
I always study in my room, but that is just me. If you are a first year student you can check out Peabody Library and a variety of other Peabody campus classrooms. Other places that are “go-to” spots are the music practice rooms, which there are normally two or more in each dorm (hank even has a huge basement that is always quite). I have also found that a good productive place is a laundry room, something about the hum of the machines is comforting to me. Stephenson is also open all night, so that is a place you will always be able to go to.
There are rad study rooms in commons that are great for study groups, and they can be reserved. Also the 8th floor of central library.
Thumbs up the 8th floor. That place is freaky quite.
There are good study rooms in some of the commons dorms that have pretty much a library atmosphere and are good places to go if you don’t want to walk to the library. Stevenson has a library that’s always open I think but you get sick of that place real fast. There’s a med school library near the hospital which is pretty nice. Peabody is close to commons so it’s convenient to get to. Commons center/rand are also decent places
